Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center

Associated with the Rite Hite YMCA, the Walter Schroeder 50 meter Pool in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, is close to the I-43 and Brown Deer Road exit on the north side of Milwaukee. We have daily coached practices in the early AM Monday through Saturday. All ages and ability levels have a place to swim here. Lanes are 8-foot wide. Pool depth ranges from 2 meters to 5 meters. Swimmers are friendly. Swimmers are a mix of USMS members, USA-Triathlon members and swimmers with fitness as the primary goal. Coaches are excellent. They are up to date with techniques. They coach both age group and masters swimmers. Occasionally, we use an underwater camera for feedback to improve our stokes. A second workout group site is at the new Rameriz Aquatic Center at the St. Augustine Preparatory School (Off I-94/I-43, Becher Street Exit, south of downtown). There is a 10 lane 25 yard pool which has coached masters practices 5 times a week (Mon through Thurs (5:45-7am) and Saturday (7-8:30am)). Swimmers can swim at either location.

Practice Information

Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center, Brown Deer, practice schedule is Mon thru Fri at 5:45am-7am, Sat at 7-8:30 AM and no Sundays. The 50 meter pool is almost always configured as short course yards with 17 lanes available using one SCY pool of 8 lanes and 9 cross-wise 20 meter lanes. Very occasionally the pool is configured for LCM.
Rameriz Aquatic Center, Milwaukee, offers five coached masters practices as follows ... Mon through Thursday (5:45-7am) and Saturday (7-8:30am). When the Schroeder pool is closed for an age group swim meet on a Saturday, the Schroeder pool swimmers use Rameriz Aquatic Center. RAC swimmers wanting a Friday practice use the Schroeder pool Friday session.
